At Evinome, we’re passionate about the delivery of timely health information to a very important group of healthcare consumers: individuals and families with genetic predisposition for serious disease. Although serious genetic conditions are generally rare or uncommon on their own, in aggregate they significantly impact the public health. And from the perspective of the patient or family, it doesn’t matter whether something is rare or common; what matters is that it has the potential to markedly affect their daily lives.
This passion is reflected in our values:
- The patient/healthcare consumer is the most important part of the healthcare ecosystem.
- Consumers deserve accurate and timely health information regardless of where they live. In the age of the internet, it shouldn’t matter whether you live within easy driving distance to a forward thinking academic medical center or large community medical center.
- Bias and misaligned financial incentives have led too many personalized medicine products with weak scientific support to be marketed as major “advances” when, in fact, they are not worth your money or time.
- The backlash against genomics hype has inhibited the broader adoption of the few genomic medicine tools that have strong evidence-based support and can positively impact patient care today.
- The United States and other governments produce high quality healthcare information, but sometimes do not move fast enough for consumers needing to make decisions today.
- Disruptive innovation in healthcare strategies, processes, and delivery systems will be critical to attack the mounting challenges to our healthcare systems.
